What is Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection?

With AltaOne’s Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection, you have an extra safety net for those unexpected moments. Courtesy Pay can help prevent fees or other issues if funds aren’t available when you need them. Instead of returning a transaction, we may cover it for you, whether it’s on your checking, savings, or Money Market account.

This added protection can be a lifesaver for those surprise expenses or account mishaps. It helps you avoid merchant and NSF fees, keeps checks from bouncing, and can save you from the frustration of a declined debit card when you're ready to pay.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection is automatically provided to Members in good standing, who have an established checking account more than 90 days, are at least 18 years old, and have no ChexSystems® record.

  • There is no monthly fee to participate in Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection. A fee is charged when an item is paid using Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection. A maximum of 6 fees may be charged per day. If you don't use the service, you do not pay a fee.

    Please refer to AltaOne’s Personal Schedule of Fees & Charges for current fees.

  • If you meet the qualifying criteria, you are automatically enrolled in Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection for checks, recurring debit card transactions, and electronic withdrawals.

    You will need to opt in for Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

    To opt in, contact us (800) 433-9727 or visit a branch location.

  • As a courtesy, as long as you maintain your account in good standing, Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection may honor overdrafts up to your Courtesy Pay limit. If funds aren’t available in your account, we may attempt to clear the transaction by using any overdraft protections you have in place in the following order:

    1. Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection

    2. Designated Savings Account

    3. Overdraft Line of Credit (if applicable)

To utilize your designated Savings Account or Overdraft Line of Credit prior to Courtesy Pay Overdraft Protection, contact us at (800) 433-9727 or visit a branch location.

  • You should make every attempt to bring your account to a positive balance as quickly as possible.  If your account is overdrawn for 45 days, your account will be closed and the negative balance may be reported to consumer reporting agencies.

  • You can cancel Courtesy Pay at any time. Simply call an AltaOne Member Service Representative at (800) 433-9727 or visit your local AltaOne branch. Please keep in mind, once this service is removed, transactions without sufficient funds may be declined and/or returned and the standard NSF fee will be charged per item.
