Contactless Visa® Debit Card

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my debit card being replaced?
Our card program is being upgraded to provide Tap to Pay convenience with your new contactless card.

How do I activate or change my pin on my AltaOne Debit Card?
Simply call 800-631-3197. Make sure you call from the phone number on file and that you have your card handy.

Where is my new Debit Card?
We are replacing all debit cards with Contactless debit cards for greater convenience and added security. Your new Contactless debit card provides Tap to Pay convenience, making it the better option for everyday banking and purchases in person and online. You can also pay bills and use for mobile payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The EMV Chip and Visa zero liability provide additional layers of security against unauthorized transactions. Of course, you can also use your debit card at the ATM as well.

How do Contactless cards make transactions quicker, safer, and more convenient?

  • Security: Contactless cards use encryption and dynamic data for each transaction, making it harder for fraudsters to clone the card. Additionally, they don't require you to input your PIN for small transactions, lowering the risk of shoulder surfing or data theft.

  • Low Risk of Skimming: Since the card never leaves your possession, it minimizes the risk of "skimming" (fraudsters stealing card details by swiping or copying your card data).

  • Reduced Wear and Tear: Because there is no need to insert or swipe the card repeatedly, it experiences less wear and tear compared to traditional cards.

  • Convenience: With a simple tap of your card near a point-of-sale terminal, you can complete your payment. There's no need to insert or swipe the card, saving time, especially for small transactions.

  • Speed: Contactless payments are faster than traditional card payments, reducing the time spent at checkout. This is especially useful for high-traffic areas or quick transactions, like coffee shops or gas stations.
